- Cool Immediately: Hold the burned skin under cool running water for 15 to 20 minutes continuously. Do NOT use ice, toothpaste, butter, or oil on fresh burns.

- Move the affected person to a cool, shaded, well-ventilated area immediately.
- Loosen tight clothing and apply cool damp cloths to the forehead, neck, and armpits.
- Provide oral hydration with chilled ORS solution or electrolyte water slowly in small sips.
